this is a post for myself more than anything just to remember these things next time i’m feeling the way i was just a little bit ago, b/c i believe i have successfully staved off my anxiety attack

maybe it will help someone else too?? idk, like i said, it’s mostly for me but you can reblog/like it if you want, although some of the things are specific to me

    • if your thoughts are flowing around everywhere, write them down. if nothing else, it will be cathartic.
    • when you’re writing them down, try to look at them from a logical perspective. only talk about things you know, and not things you suspect or feel. such as “i know this happened. i know it upset me because of this reason” rather than “i suspect this person may feel this way because they did this thing”.
    • after you’ve written them, try to think of a logical solution to your problem. if there isn’t one, try to think of something that would at least make you feel a little better.
    • tarot is a great self care tool; it helps you to focus on something, even if you aren’t taking it 100% seriously when you’re doing it. and sometimes it might make you look at your situation from a new perspective.
    • this is a good spread for that
    • or alternatively if you don’t want advice for this worry, you can just play a game with tarot. do a spread for your characters or make up a fictional situation and do a reading for it. if nothing else, you might get some inspiration.
    • remember, you don’t need to give something your all just to do it. just because you “aren’t in the right frame of mind” to play a game or do tarot or read doesn’t mean it won’t help you get your mind off things.
    • write dumb emotional poetry. it’s stupid, but it helps, and sometimes it’s funny to look back on.
    • overall: focus on something else. it doesn’t matter what. just force yourself to do something and do it, even if your mind isn’t totally in it
    • meditation helps too. if you can’t focus enough for that, just try deep breathing. there is scientific evidence for the helpfulness of this, even if it seems silly. grounding, in general, is extremely practical and useful in times like these, even if you feel like you “can’t do it right”.
    • and on that note, don’t be concerned about doing things right. just be concerned about doing things right now, to prevent an anxiety attack.

and that’s it hopefully my future self remembers and actually reads this

  • Why You Should Stop Tracking Your Spending

    moneyisnotimportant:

The problem with tracking is that it gets you to focus on the wrong thing. It also helps you completely ignore the most important element crucial to your financial success.

    I dig this.
